1954 Chrysler Ghia GS-1
Michael Pomerance, Brookline Mass. Displayed by
Bruce Amster, Hyannis Restoration. This car was hand-fabricated by Carrozzeria
Ghia, of Turin Italy. According to one source, about 50 Chrysler GS-1's
were produced. That only five were known to exist suggests the possibility
that far less than fifty were made. The GS-1's were originally built for
distribution in France. The car is powered by a 331 cubic inch hemi-V-8
(235 h.p.) and equipped with a powerflite transmission. The automobile
placed second in its class at Pebble Beach in 1995, and also won the award
for "The Most Elegant Closed Automobile (1940 and after), at the 1996
Concours d' Elegance of the Eastern United States. |
